Olive oil has been used for centuries as a beloved beauty product, and there's a multitude of ways it can be used. From head to toe, olive oil is a nutrient rich beauty product that is fantastic for the client that's looking to go all natural.
1. Shampoo
Olive oil has been used as a hair treatment since ancient times. Olive oil is rich in essential fats and nutrients that leave the hair feeling soft and supple. With a similar PH balance, olive oil won't leave the hair feeling greasy or dirty.
Simply warm olive oil on a stove top or microwave and apply it generously to the hair and scalp.Leave on the hair for up to 20 minutes and then shampoo thoroughly.
2. Shine Serum
Don't want to spend money on an expensive shine serum? No problem. Head straight to your kitchen and distribute a few drops of olive oil throughout the hair, focusing on the mid-shaft and ends. Hair will be left smooth, shiny and frizz-free, just remember not to go overboard and add too much oil.
3. Treat Eczema
Olive oil is extremely moisturizing and can be a perfect treatment for someone who is suffering from severely dry skin. Olive oil is nourishing and completely natural which makes it the perfect treatment for eczema. Eczema often responds better to natural treatments, instead of harsh steroids, since the skin is so sensitive.
4. Eye-Makeup Remover
Olive oil doubles as a perfect eye-makeup remover, and it won't irritate the eyes like some products do. Apply olive oil to a cotton swab and gently remove eye makeup. Follow up with a gentle cleanser to remove the oil and any remaining makeup.
5. Lip Treatment
We know by now that olive oil is a fantastic moisturizer, and lips can really benefit from its nourishing properties. Mix olive oil with a bit of sugar to create a paste that can be applied to the lips for exfoliation and moisture.
I love to use this trick before I'm going to be wearing a bright red or pink lipstick. Buffing and moisturizing the lips prior to application will create a perfect canvas for the lipstick, and will prevent it from getting creased and drying out.
6. For Cracked and Dry Heels
It's pretty easy to neglect the bottoms of our feet, but a simple olive oil treatment can quickly repair dry, cracked heels and feet.
Thoroughly buff feet with a pumice stone to remove dry skin and smooth calluses, and then generously apply olive oil, rubbing it into the feet and focusing on the driest areas. Slip on a pair of socks and sleep with the olive oil on. Wash feet in the morning with a gentle, moisturizing cleanser to reveal soft, smooth, comfortable feet.
7. Shaving Balm
If you've run out of shaving cream, head to the kitchen and grab some olive oil. Olive oil creates a perfect barrier from the razor which will aid shaving and leave the legs feeling smooth and moisturized.
8. Cuticle Treatment
Do you remember that cuticle oil they always have in beauty school called Solar Oil? That stuff is amazing! Well, you know that delicious oil that you have in your kitchen cabinet? It works just as well! Olive oil is a fantastic treatment for dry, cracked hands and cuticles. And the easiest part is, you can just apply it while you're cooking.
